Invocation: A Ring that Breaks the Borders of Thought

Sanam Hatef's Award-Winning Design Emphasizes Uniqueness and Originality

Sanam Hatef's "Invocation" is a unique ring design that draws inspiration from the domes of Islamic mosques. This piece of jewelry, which won the Silver A' Design Award in 2015, is more than just an accessory. It's a symbol of faith, originality, and the human need for safety and peace.

Eastern cultures have always placed a significant emphasis on places of worship as safe havens where individuals can feel close to their god. Hatef's design captures this sentiment, using a domical shape reminiscent of Islamic mosques to emphasize the uniqueness and originality of the wearer. The ring serves as a constant reminder of one's roots and faith.

What sets "Invocation" apart from other designs is its ability to challenge conventional thought and bring the wearer closer to their roots. The unique design not only represents the religion of a large number of people but also creates a sense of safety and peace, much like a nest. The intertwined shapes of the ring further enhance this feeling.

The ring was sketched by hand and designed using Matrix software. The material used is gold, and the ring features diamonds and emeralds. The design process involved several steps, including creating a wax model, casting, cleaning, and finally, installing the stones. The ring's technical specifications include a width of 31.45 MM and a height of 46.1 MM.

The design process began in May 2014 in Tehran and concluded in July of the same year. It involved a human-centered research approach, which included studying history, tribes, and communities of people with similar religious beliefs. The design was then refined through user-centered workshops and testing with young and mid-aged ladies, resulting in a final design that was approved by 80% of the participants.

Despite the challenges faced in realizing the dome structure and creating harmonious forms, Hatef's design was successful and well-received. The design not only breaks the borders of thought but also brings the wearer closer to their nature. It appeals to smart ladies who appreciate unique, handmade products and offers a sense of safety and peace.

Sanam Hatef's "Invocation" is a testament to the power of design in expressing cultural and religious beliefs. It's a piece of jewelry that goes beyond aesthetics, offering a profound connection to one's roots and faith. It's not just a ring; it's a symbol of originality, faith, and peace.
